MSSN names mosque edifice after

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, the  umbrella, body of Nigeria  Muslim students  in primary  secondary and tertiary  schools in Nigeria, at a webinar programme, organized by the PEACE (AS-SALAAM) magazine, unveiled a new Mosque, in the name of Dr Abdul Lateef Adegbite CON.

The occasion marked the eighth year of the demise, of the then immediate, past Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs NSCIA, the Baba Adinni of Egba-land, and co-founder of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria as well as the first president of the society.

 

Dr Taofeeq Yekinni, the current President of MSSN announced to the world, the mosque, constructed at Gwarimpa, area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, by MSSN, is  to posthumously  honour, Dr Adegbite, who  positively changed, the  lives of millions of Nigerian Muslims , and  made them practice  their religion in a conducive  atmosphere devoid of persecution and intimidation from non-Muslims.   The National Executive Committee of the MSSN, he said; ‘’has since set in motion, the official handing over of the mosque to a Management Committee, headed by Senator, Ibrahim Shekarau, to ensure, good use of the mosque’’.

Reacting to the announcement, Bashorun Ladi Adegbite, a son, of the late Baba Adinni of Egba-land, expressed  his happiness and gratitude to the entire, members of MSSN, for the gesture, he said: ‘’this naming of a mosque in honour of  my late father, is shocking and unexpected, but it is well appreciated.  And this shall further spur the family towards ensuring the legacies of our father is kept and promoted’’

The webinar elucidates the love and passion for Dr Abdul Lateef Adegbite, in the minds of many, particularly for his contributions too numerous to be mentioned in the growth of Islam and Muslims in Nigeria.  His roles in the formations of NAJOMO, and the Nigerian Supreme Council of Nigeria, were reference.  Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, the Executive Secretary of   the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria, (MUSWEN) presided as the chairman of the events.
