General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd) has another collection of 28 titles across Nigeria, which is a manifestation of his various humanitarian services.

His Excellency, Lieutenant General Dr. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (rtd), former Chief of Army Staff and the immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to the Benin Republic yesterday, October 14, 2023, bagged another traditional title as the BAAKORE of Akure Kingdom in the Ondo State capital, southwest Nigeria. The conferment was attended by the good people of the community and presided over by the 47th Deji of Akure Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Cfr, the Odundun II.

The conferment, which involved the traditional decoration with the spiritual leaves and presentation of office paraphernalia, was an honour and eloquent testimony of his sacrifices, contributions and humanitarian pedigrees while in service and retirement. The affection he received at the occasion was stupendous because everyone was glad to have him in the community.

Lieutenant General Buratai (rtd), in his usual peaceful disposition towards people regardless of their statuses, thanked the Deji of Akure for the honour and recognition, which he said he will forever appreciate for coming from a Yoruba Kingdom like the Akure, which is rich in tradition and an ancient town. He reiterated his resolve to discharge his expected roles as a member of the Kingdom’s cabinet and humanity. It is essential to state that he is the first non-indigene of the Akure kingdom to be honoured with such a prestigious traditional title of the domain in special recognition of his dignified contributions to national development, peace and security in Nigeria.

General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd) has another collection of 28 titles across Nigeria, which is a manifestation of his various humanitarian services, sterling roles in counter-terrorism and insurgency in North-east, Nation-building and infrastructural developmental projects while in and out of service across many states in Nigeria. Two of such traditional titles include the Jagunmolu of Saki Kingdom (the Benevolent Warrior) conferred on him by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Doctor) Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo III, Okere of Saki Kingdom and Sadaukin Jajere by Alhaji Mai Hamza Buba Ibn Isah Mashio, the Emir of Jajere Yobe state.

Various dignitaries, family members, officers, Men of the armed forces and friends from different parts of the country honoured him with their presence at the occasion. His Royal Highness Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude Oluwo of Kuta, Dr. Manzo Ahmad (Jagaban Garkuwan Keffi), Alh. Najeem Jimoh, the former Group Editor of Punch Newspapers, were also present and numerous others.
